Position Overview
Seeking a Locum Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with extensive experience in emergency departments. The role involves working independently in a 10-hour midlevel shift from 11 AM to 9 PM, with a supervising physician available for consultation.
Responsibilities
- Handle an average patient volume of 20 per day in a 25-bed emergency department.
- Utilize Cerner electronic health records for patient information management.
- Serve in a Provisional Level 4 Trauma Center with an annual emergency room volume of 20,000 visits.
- Respond to house codes as needed.
- Coordinate with hospitalists or attending emergency department physicians for patient admissions.
Requirements
- Board Certification as an NP/PA is required.
- Must have a current Michigan license; non-IMLCC license holders will not be considered.
- Possess ACLS and PALS certifications.
- Verbal confirmation of a current DEA is necessary at the time of name clear.
- Clean background required for expedited credentialing.
Support and Resources
- The emergency department has 24-hour availability for radiology (CT, MRI, X-ray), laboratory services, and surgical services.
- Consultants in orthopedics, obstetrics, general surgery, neurology, and urology are available.
- Cardiologists and ED doctors perform EKG interpretations.
Additional Information
- Credentialing timeframe is approximately 90 days.
- Immunization records for Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Flu (current season), Covid, TB (within 12 months), and Tdap (adult vaccine within the last 10 years) are required for clearance.
- The site uses reverse billing, requiring providers to clock in and out using Kronos; no manual timesheets will be accepted.
