Saint Joseph is seeking a skilled Locum NP/PA to work alongside attending Cardiothoracic Surgeons for OR responsibilities (1st assist) with call for OR only. The role focuses on surgical assistance, rounding, ordering tests, pre-op physical exams, and vein harvesting, among other duties.

Average Number of Patients:
– Outpatient: 10 per day
– Inpatient: 5-8 per day

– EPIC

Requirements and Duties:
– Not accepting new graduates; preference for experienced NP with Cardiothoracic Surgery knowledge/skills including office, bedside, and OR experience.
– Surgical assistance in the OR and additional responsibilities such as writing prescriptions, rounding, and performing suture removal.
– Comprehensive patient assessment including wellness, compliance with care plan, and diagnostic/therapeutic procedures (within licensed scope).
– Acute and chronic patient care involving histories, physical exams, inpatient/outpatient consultations, and monitoring therapies.
– Responsibilities include chest tube removal, pacing wire removal, cardiac rehab, nutritional needs, and wound care.
– Integration of data and determining procedures in consultation with the Cardiovascular Surgeon.
– Participation in multidisciplinary communication of treatment plans.
– Surgical duties include vein/artery harvesting using the Maquet system and various 1st Assist duties.
– Emergency response including CPR and ACLS protocols.
– Thorough documentation of patient information and care.

Submission Requirements:
– PA and NP certifications
– Local candidates preferred
– Indiana license required at the time of submission
– NCCPA certification required (PA Only)
– AANP certification required (NP Only)
– Experience in Maquet Vein Harvesting required
– Must have proof of COVID-19 vaccine
