MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center is seeking multiple Locum Hem-Onc Physicians for full-time positions. Candidates are expected to provide coverage Monday through Friday each week.

Schedule:
– Primary providers on the Oncology floor are employed by MercyOne
– Locum providers will handle consults and address any emergency issues
– Patient Contact Hours: 8
– Clinic days: 5
– Clinic Hours: 8-5
– No Procedure/OR days
– On Call is required
– Medical Hematology/Oncology coverage involves 2 outpatient days at secondary clinics and 3 outpatient days per week at primary clinic
– Inpatient coverage at both sites with APP support for the provider

Details:
– Outreach required at the secondary location in West Des Moines Cancer Center, covering inpatient and outpatient services 8 days per month
– Telehealth services are not offered
– Team consists of 3 physicians and 3 advanced practice providers
– Supervision of APPs is expected
– Each provider has access to 2 exam rooms
– Medical Imaging, Lab, and Pharmacy services are available
– Services offered include patient assessments, treatment plans, referral for ancillary services, end of life care, chemotherapy management, and pain management

Volume and Demographics:
– Clinic Provider daily volume: 10-30 patients
– Average daily hospital practice census: 10-15 patients
– Appointment Length: 20 minutes
– Patient Demographics: Adults 18+

Technical Details:
– Current EMR system: AllScripts, transitioning to Epic in May 2025

Teaching Opportunity:
– Informal teaching opportunity available

Submission Requirements:
– Board Certification in Medical Oncology is required
– Board Certification in Hematology is preferred but not required
– Fellowship training in Medical Oncology/Hematology is required
– A medical license in Iowa is not required; open to new licensing and IMLC candidates
