Coverage Need:
A general surgeon is required for hospital call only, with no clinic involvement. The position involves routine general surgery cases and consults, with only emergent cases needing to be addressed. Follow-up care can be referred to the facility's general surgeon after the assignment.

Patient Encounters:
– Approximately 10+ ER calls and about the same number of inpatient consults over the week

Specialty Skills:
– General Surgery is required, including adult surgery. Pediatric and neonate surgeries are preferred.
– Trauma surgery is preferred.
– Laparoscopic surgeries, such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernioplasty, and Nissen fundoplication, are preferred.

Additional Surgical Skills (Preferred):
– Head/neck surgery (including thyroid)
– Chest wall/pleural procedures
– Breast surgery
– Obstetric & gynecologic surgery, including cesarean section, D&C, and hysterectomy
– Liver surgery
– GI endoscopy (upper and lower, including sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy)
– Minor orthopedics, including hand surgery
– Ventilation management
– Chest tube and central line insertions
– PA catheter placement
– Laser certification
– Vascular surgery, including aneurysm repairs (thoracic and abdominal), arterial bypass, peripheral vascular access devices, and AV shunt
– Plastic surgery

Additional Procedures for Physicians Trained as Pediatric Surgeons (Preferred):
– Artesias (esophageal, intestinal, biliary)
– Abdominal wall defects, including gastroschisis
– Umbilical defects, including hernia and omphalocele
– Diaphragmatic hernia
– Imperforate anus
