The provider must be proficient in procedures such as intubation, central lines, chest tubes, and lumbar punctures (LPs). An Act 10 license/waiver is acceptable.
On occasion, providers may be asked to precept 2nd or 3rd-year residents, approximately every three months. Urgent Care is adjacent to the Emergency Department (ED) and is staffed with two Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) and a registered nurse. While you are not required to cosign their records, you will act as a resource for them. If a patient needs to be upgraded to the ED, they will provide you with a report, and the patient will be moved to the ED. There are minimal times when an APC will be present in the ED proper, but this is not a daily occurrence.
